的 Centers for Disease Control recently came out with a recommendation about the use of cloth masks as a way to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. 的 Yolo County Health Department has released some guidelines about the use of this type of mask. In West Sacramento, several seniors who usually meet weekly at the 社区中心, have been busy making hundreds of cloth face coverings from their homes. Please watch this video to learn more!

Earlier this week unauthorized vehicles drove into the Southport Floodplain Restoration Area, west of Village Parkway/ Lake Washington Boulevard intersection, on the waterside of the new levee along the Sacramento River. Not only is this behavior prohibited as a general rule, but it also violates the Yolo County shelter in place order and is considered a non-essential activity.

 

的 ATVs damaged the restoration area, 创建车辙, running over irrigation, and destroying trees and plants. This floodplain restoration area is Phase 3 of the Southport Levee Improvement Project and it provides necessary mitigation for present and future levee improvements. More than 78,000 trees and plants were installed this past year in the recaptured floodplain. This area will grow into a riparian forest providing habitat for fish, birds and terrestrial animals. This area is closed to unauthorized vehicles. 的 top of the levee is available for use by pedestrians and cyclists, 然而, ATVs and motor cycles are prohibited.
